He first heard about the forum when he was serving as Vice President of Harding’s Student Government Association. Hector had held various leadership roles on campus, so an event that developed leadership skills peaked his interest.

Hector attended ASLF in 2012. Throughout the weekend he began connecting the dots between leading people and serving them, and realized that at the heart of the leadership style of Jesus was service. This idea deeply resonated with Hector and light bulbs kept coming on the entire weekend. Hector was able to take what he was given and put it into practice on Harding’s campus.

Soon after, he had the opportunity to attend the National Student Leadership Forum and the National Prayer Breakfast. This further propelled him into learning and experiencing servant leadership. He was amazed at the good being done on Capitol Hill by our nation’s leaders as they implemented servant leadership in their positions.

Seven years after attending ASLF as a student, Hector is still using what he learned and experienced as a Financial Advisor with Thrivent Financial. Hector’s aim is to serve his clients by helping them be wise with their money. His company, Thrivent Financial, is heavily involved in the local community, giving Hector even more opportunities to serve. Along with being Habitat for Humanity’s biggest partner, Thrivent sends out Action Kits that help clients teach their families to “Live Generously.”

“I believe in my profession that servant leadership is crucial. I seek to always end my appointments with clients asking them if there is anything else I can do for them and continuing to be there for them every step of the way. People’s finances are not a light matter and there needs to be a level of trust between my clients and myself. My goal is to serve them just as Jesus served during His time.”

Hector resides in Little Rock with his wife Jill and their twin girls – Allison and Caroline. He is involved in various community organizations in the city.
